2nd Chances?
2nd Chances are hard to come by. In the other Wes Moore, Wes shot a boy who was with the girl he hooked up with.He had the chance to correct his mistakes. However, he did not take advantage of his 2nd chance. Many people who commit acts that can be regretted, they wish that they could take back whatever they do. There was once a time in my life where I was granted a second chance. Unlike the other Wes Moore, I did not take this chance for granted and I made sure I did not make the same mistake twice.

I started in the beginning of 6th grade. As the year progressed, I did not notice any significant changes and I began to feel discouraged. My mom told me to be patient and to give it more time. I was an impatient child at the time and only wanted results as soon as possible. The next year, I began to notice the difference and began to be slightly satisfied with the results. I went from being 4’6 to being 5’2 during the start of 8th grade. However, once 8th grade started, the doctor began to take me off these growth hormones since they did their job.

In the beginning of high school, I noticed that I was standing slightly tilted compared to everyone else. I was concerned since I never stood in such a weird manner. I went to my regular doctor where he confirmed that I had scoliosis. I knew what it was and I was wondering how I got it in the first place. My doctor explained that it happened due my rapid growth. My next step was to find a orthopedic doctor in order to receive a second opinion.
After countless visits to the the surgeon, I had to have surgery to correct my scoliosis. This was my second chance considering that my scoliosis restricted how much physical activity I did. In the end, I believed that the growth hormones were not worth it and I regretted the decision. Once I got the surgery, I began to feel normal and noticed that my back was almost how it used to be. 10 months pass and I am doing physical activities again and I noticed the difference on my athletic performances.
