The Importance of Family

Loss is the factor of losing something or someone. In the first chapter, both Wes Moore’s faced loss because both of their father left their lives. Wes Moore’s father died due to poor hospital care. Other Wes Moore’s father was not around since he was addicted to alcohol. However, both their mother’s were present when their father’s weren’t. When Wes Moore’s father died, his mother decided to move from where they were and decided to go to the Bronx. Wes Moore spoke highly about his mother and acknowledges that she worked hard in order for him to be safe and to take care of him. His mother does everything in her power to ensure that her children are protected. This is shown when they move to the Bronx. In the Bronx, there are many people that abuse substances and it is all around Wes Moore. Despite this, his mother makes sure that Wes is safe.
Family is important to a child's life.Having both parents is also important and could have an emotional impact on a child's life. Many could say that a mother can be a mother and a father at the same time. However, there are some children who may disagree with this opinion. Being someone with both parents, I can say that family is important and it can affect a person in the long run. Both Wes Moore’s lived different lives since one had both parents and the other had only one. The first Wes Moore appeared to be more structured as well a stronger as a person, The other Wes Moore on the other hand is the complete opposite of the first Wes Moore. Because the other Wes Moore lacked a father figure, he became almost the same.
